Bright Supernova in M82 – Homepage Observing – SkyandTelescope.com.

Just in case you haven’t heard, there’s a supernova in M82. If you have dark skies, check it out. If you don’t have dark skies, give it a couple days, and start looking. It should brighten enough to see through a small telescope, or even binoculars.

The last time a supernova was this close to us was 1987. This time, those of us in the northern hemisphere actually get to see it.
