Today, the Cassini spacecraft will take an historic image of a Saturn eclipse, with the Earth in the background. Carolyn Porco and Astronomers Without Borders are celebrating by hosting The Day The Earth Smiled. visit http://astronomerswithoutborders.org/projects/the-day-the-earth-smiled.html to find an event near you.

Don’t forget to smile and wave at Saturn from from 21:27 to 21:42 UT. That’s 5:27 – 5:42 in Ann Arbor, where Saturn will be about 25 degrees above the southeast horizon (a little more than the distance if you spread your hand out at arm’s length.)
