APOD: 2012 September 20 – Sunrise Analemma (with a little extra).

I like the analemma. It’s an interesting figure, that contains lots of information about the Earth’s orbit and how we measure time.  Also, it’s a photographic challenge, and I have a great deal of admiration for the people who successfully capture this figure.

For people who were successful this year, and live on the right half of the planet, they have an extra unique image. The analemma with a transit of Venus. You won’t catch that again in my lifetime!

By the way, the Earth isn’t the only place were we have an image on an analemma. Check out this APOD!
