April 2010 Venus and Mercury April 16, 2010

Just in case you haven’t heard, Venus and Mercury are both in the west just after sunset right now, so get out there and look!   And if you happen to get out on April 16, you can catch a young Moon too.

Oh, and if you have a modest telescope (something a bit better than binoculars or a Galileoscope) take a careful look at Mercury.  It’s a lovely quarter phase.

And one final thing, if you happen to live at high latitudes, keep an eye out for aurora.  Looks like we’re finally stating to come out of solar minima, even if the Sun is blank s I write this.
